Sunday Thoughts: Busy, Blessed, and Choosing What Matters
This morning started slow and quiet—just me, my Bible, and a little time with the Lord before the house woke up. The only movement was the cat stirring, reminding me the day was coming.
My Bible study focused on embracing life’s seasons… and I couldn’t help but think about how full this one feels right now.
Spring break is wrapping up over here, and yesterday felt like the perfect picture of real life.
An early 8:30 track practice, a quick 7 Brew run, Home Depot for one more gallon of paint to finish Macy’s room, and a stop at Hobby Lobby for a kitchen rug.
By the afternoon, we were at Nana and Poppy’s—playing HORSE and a little one-on-one on the basketball court, a game of pool downstairs, and ending the day with a long game of Scrabble with Aunt Kellie and the cousins.
Simple.
Full.
The kind of day that doesn’t look big—but means everything.
And somewhere in the middle of it, this verse kept coming to mind:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23
I think it’s easy to read that and feel like it means:
Do more. Try harder. Don’t slow down.
But that’s not what I felt.
What I felt was this gentle reminder:
It’s not about doing everything… it’s about embracing the season you’re in and doing what matters with your whole heart.
The errands.
The conversations.
The time with family.
The little moments that don’t make the highlight reel.
They all matter.
Not because they’re big or impressive—but because of who we’re doing them for.
I can pour into my preschool, my business, my girls, and my home…
and still be intentional about how I show up in each of those places.
Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
But on purpose.
As we head into a new week, coming off spring break, I’m reminding myself:
I’m not just working… I’m serving.
And even the ordinary moments—
the ones that feel small—
are part of something bigger.
