šæ Spring Break: Slowing Down, Catching Up, and Soaking It In
Spring break looks a little different for us this year⦠and honestly? I think I needed it.
The to-do list is still a mile long (maybe longer š ), but this week has been about catching up, slowing down, and just breathing a little.
We kicked things off with a girls tripānothing fancy, just the kind of day that fills your cup:
shopping at the mall
steak and shrimp at Outback Steakhouse
a quick run through Barnes & Noble
and, of course, 7 Brew Coffee for the late-night ride home
Simple. Easy. Perfect.
š Real Life Spring Break
Tuesday morning came early with track practice for Macy (and yes⦠more 7 Brew ā).
And the rest of the week? Itās been a mix of:
hours of planning, writing, editing
pouring my heart into the very first ABC Adventures book featuring Finley the Fox š¦
dreaming big about what this can become
I truly cannot wait to share it with yāall.
Macy has promised (weāll hold her to it š) that all illustrations will be finished by the end of spring break.
š For the Ones Staying Home
This post is really for youā
the ones scrolling Facebook seeing beach trips, ski vacations in Colorado, and all the āperfectā spring break moments.
Let me just say this:
š Itās okay to stay home.
š Itās okay to choose rest.
š Itās okay if your spring break looks simple.
Whether itās finances, schedules, or just needing a break from the chaos of lifeā¦
there is so much goodness in slowing down.
We live in such a fast-paced world.
Sometimes what we really need is:
slow mornings
home-cooked meals
nowhere to be
and space to just be together
šø The Little Things This Week
This week has been full of those little, sweet moments:
sitting on the front porch swing with my girls
soaking up this crazy Arkansas weather (70ā80° in March⦠what?! š³)
pulling out my Grandma Kathleenās brownie recipe
And Madalyn has made those brownies not once⦠but TWICE ā¤ļø
šŖ“ Home Depot Therapy (Anyone Else?!)
Weāve made two trips to The Home Depot this weekā¦
Macy is painting her room, and let me just sayā
I am refusing to go upstairs until itās finished.
My brain simply cannot handle the in-progress mess š
But somewhere along the way, I realizedā¦
Iām in that phase of life where:
t-shirt and shorts āļø
ponytail and baseball hat āļø
a little mascara if weāre feeling fancy āļø
And honestly?
Walking through Home Depot looking at:
plants
dirt
flowers
flower pots
Thatās my happy place now.
ā Final Thoughts
If your spring break didnāt look big or excitingā¦
if it felt quiet or even a little ābehindāā¦
Just know this:
You didnāt miss out.
You reset.
And sometimes, thatās exactly what we need.
