Sweet Summertime & New Adventures Ahead

Yesterday, we wrapped up another wonderful year of preschool.

As always, the last day brings a mix of emotions. There’s excitement for summer, pride in how much the children have grown, and just a little bit of sadness as we close the chapter on another school year. It always goes by way too fast.

Today, though, we’re officially shifting into summer mode at ABC Academy.

The lesson plans get a little looser. The schedules slow down. The days are filled with more play, more laughter, and plenty of opportunities to simply be kids.

We’re trading some of our structured routines for sprinklers, popsicles, watermelon slices, misters, water tables, muddy feet, and long afternoons outside. There will still be learning, of course—it just looks a little different during the summer months. Some of the very best learning happens while children are exploring, creating, splashing, digging, and making memories with friends.

And honestly, I love this season.

I love the slower pace. The empty calendar spaces. The evenings spent on the porch swing. Watering flowers. Cooking dinner while the sun slowly settles behind the trees. Fresh lemonade. Watermelon on the counter. Bare feet and fireflies.

Summer has a way of reminding us to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

While the preschool schedule slows down, my personal calendar is about to get a little busier. It’s officially time for me to start focusing on one of the things I’m most excited about this summer—SPLASH in Dallas!

In just a few months, I’ll be packing up materials, finalizing presentations, preparing booth displays, and getting ready to connect with educators from all over the country. What started as a dream years ago has turned into opportunities to share ideas, learn from amazing educators, and represent the work we do every day here at ABC Academy.

I am incredibly excited.

But first, I’m going to soak up a little summertime.

A few popsicles.
A few porch swings.
A lot of watermelon.
And as many sprinkler days as possible.

Happy Summer, friends. ☀️🍉💦
